The Story
Few amps have rivaled the commanding image and sound of the Super Reverb. An unending list of guitar gods have used this amp over time, including but certainly not limited to, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robben Ford, Derek Trucks, and Johnny Marr of The Smiths fame. Since its introduction in 1963, the Super Reverb has remained highly sought-after due to its unique tonal qualities and extreme versatility. Having a use on stages of all sizes and in any studio situation, the Mojotone Super Reverb style amp has the potential to handle literally any task at hand.
With more of a “scooped-midrange” sound, the Mojotone Super Reverb allows the low-end and high-end frequencies to stand out, giving this amp a thick and snappy bottom end with glassy, clear highs. Note separation in chords is outstanding, and leads will cut through any mix appropriately without an undesirable harshness. Side Note : Many bass players have even described the Super Reverb as a perfect bass amp.
Similar to most of the Blackface era amps, the Mojotone Super Reverb style amp offers a normal channel and a vibrato channel, each with two inputs of varying output levels. Although it retains the simplicity that goes hand-in-hand with most Fender circuits, it certainly has no shortage of tonal options. The normal channel consists of a bright switch, volume control, treble, and bass. The vibrato channel offers the same controls as the normal channel but with an added “middle” control as well as reverb level, and controls for the speed and intensity of the tube-driven tremolo. This is a 6L6 amp that sounds magnificent at lower practice levels and at full stage volume.
